The incredible cost of global warming keeps coming into focus. Last week the Japanese government said that to significantly reduce its carbon dioxide by 2020 would cost about $500 billion. www.marketwatch.com

Previously, the United Nations estimated that the global cost over the next couple of decades could total $20 trillion or more.

Where all this money is going to come from still isn’t clear. The Japanese government said its nation’s cost will be split equally between businesses and consumers.

Whether or not Japan (and other countries) find as much money as they need, however, it’s clear that, as the Japanese report indicates, many billions of dollars will be spent on new technologies.

Until tomorrow.
