The Canadian government is offering cash, bikes and bus passes to people who agree to take off the road gas-guzzling vehicles that are 1995 or old models. news.yahoo.com

The government estimates that five million of the 18 million vehicles on Canadian roads are pre-1996, the year tougher emissions standards were introduced.

Sounds like an idea that could catch on around the world – with bicycle manufacturers possibly reaping windfall profits.
