A group of investment firms claims North American oil and gas companies are underreporting their greenhouse gas emissions. They want the U.S.’s Securities and Exchange Commission to investigate. www.canada.com
Should such an idea gain acceptance, oil and gas firms could find themselves having to pay a higher price to cap their emissions, or to buy credits in a carbon trading market.
